Common Mistakes To Avoid During Your Shower Bath

Eating, showering and sleeping are the most essential everyday rituals that we all do. Daily showering makes us feel clean, fresh, hygienic and rejuvenated. Showering habits varies from person to person. Some differ in the duration, some in the way of showering, some use warm water and some cold water. So, all in all taking shower is something which is way too essential but differs a lot from each person. But showering could be a little harmful if you are doing some common mistakes while getting a bath.

Here are some common mistakes that you all need to avoid during your shower.

1. Getting in shower for too long.

According to the researchers, spending more than 10 minutes in shower could be harmful for your skin. As we all love to be in shower for 15 -20 minutes or even 30 minutes which is really tempting but scientists have to say that shorter is better as spending more than 10 minutes in shower could strip your skin of moisture.

2. Hot water shower

Many people find it soothing and relaxing to get a hot water shower which reduces body’s exhaustion and tiredness. But the studies say that hot water dries out your hair and skin eroding away all the natural oils making the scalp and skin prone to dirt and bacteria by widening the skin pores. Even the hot water makes your skin turn red like a lobster which could create itchiness and skin rashes. Always try to take cold water shower or even you could go for luke warm water.

3. Washing your dreadlocks everyday

Washing your hair everyday makes your scalp more oilier as the shampoo erodes the natural oil and hence the scalp produces more natural oil to restore it. So, it’s better to wash your hair twice or thrice in a weak so that the oil could reach the hair roots properly making it healthy and strong.

4. Using deodorant and anti-bacterial soaps

The harsh chemicals and fragrances of anti-bacterial and deodorant soaps strip away the moisture of your skin making it dry and damaged. This caused itchiness and flakiness. It’s better to use some natural moisturizing bathing bars to cleanse your body. There are many natural and organic bathing bars available in shops which restore your skin moisture and nourishes it from deep. Dove, Vivel bathing bars etc. are always recommended.

5. Scrubbing your face everyday

The skin of the face is 10 times more softer and thinner than our body’s skin. Scrubbing your face with exfoliating scrubs daily can wear and tear your skin making it all rough, dry and damaged. In fact, it makes your skin more oilier as your sebaceous glands secrete more natural oil after getting dried by the scrub particles. Always try to scrub your face once in a week that even for 5 minutes or less for best results apply ice cubes to close the pores.

6. Stroking your hair with towels to dry it

Stroking hair with the towel or rubbing them to dry it can make your hair weak and damaged. This weakens your hair follicles causing hair breakage as your hair is most prone to damage. Always be gentle with your hair patting your hair slowly with smooth clothes or let it dry all naturally.

7. Soaping your entire body everyday

How many of you think that soaping entire body while showering is way too necessary? Well if you doing this you are wasting your time, money and energy. The skin on arms, legs, your back and your tummy produce less oil as compared to your armpits, neck, groin areas, buttocks, face and feet. You could apply soap or body shampoo on these oil generating areas which cause sweating and stinks too. So, stop wasting your bathing bars using unnecessarily in your arms and legs more often. You could soap your entire body once in a weak if you want.

8. Using your same old shampoo

If you are addicted to a specific shampoo which is your favourite then better check the ingredients in it as sulphate content in shampoos cause hair breakage, making it rough and brittle. Hence it’s better to use sulphate free shampoos and protein content conditioners. So, I hope you gonna change your shampoo ASAP.

9. Not washing and cleaning your bathing puffs and washcloths

Many of us use bathing loofas, puffs or washcloths to cleanse our body. But, how many of you bother about cleansing and washing your puffs regularly? Unwashed loofas are really unhygienic as they are the store house all the bacteria, fungus and dirts. So, it’s always recommended to wash and clean your puffs in every 3-4 uses in hot water. You can replace them too.

10. Shaving and waxing before showering

We all have a mundane habit to clean our body and complete all bathroom rituals before shower and yet getting cleansed and rejuvenated taking a nice shower after all. But, let me tell you that shaving hair or waxing before getting to shower can damage your skin. As the water when you shower opens up all the skin pores and hair follicles and gives you a real smooth shave after shower. So next time ladies and gentlemen shave your beard or your body hairs after taking a nice shower.
