Exercises To Do Right After Wake Up

Starting the day well and good happens not too often especially if you’ve had little hours of sleep the night before.

You’ve got the usual 9 – 5 hours for work and everyone who’s doing office work will tell you that the lack of sleep could make them a little unproductive for the day.

Getting up can be tedious too. Although you’ve set an alarm, there are times that the snooze button is our friend, allowing us to steal that much-needed sleep for a few more minutes.

That’s ok, but remember that not paying much attention to our body can jeopardize our health. Going to the gym is recommended, but what if you’ve got to work early? There is no time to do any of that, with the exception of spending an hour or so for some workouts.

Best to create a plan with simple morning exercises that will work well for you. It does not have to be sophisticated — using pieces of equipment can take your time, and what if you’ve woken up a little late?

Good thing you can do exercises right in the comfort of your own bedroom. All you need to do is to open your eyes upon hearing the alarm and not hit the snooze button, go back to reality, and perform exercises to do right after you wake up.

Really, once you have started doing exercises, you will find yourself caught in a routine that will be of great help to you, generally.

But, that excuse is no longer viable. No matter if you’ve slept a good 7-8 hours or less, there are simple morning exercises that you can do to rejuvenate, and that will help you make it through busy times and other mundane activities that day.

Below are 3 exercises to do right after you wake up.

1. Stretching

This is best done while standing straight, and remember to take deep breaths so you can focus on this exercise. With your hands on hips, put your right or left forward and bend that leg for 5 minutes. Do this with each leg.

For the arms and shoulders: stand straight, bend sideways and be in that position for 5 minutes. Arms outstretched sideways and upwards for a good 5 minutes work, too.

This is done to refresh the brain and mind. Stretching helps ease the body’s sore points and it benefits people who are always in the position in which the mobility of both shoulders and arms isn’t quite maximized.

2. Bending while sitting

On the floor, be in a sitting position with your legs half-spread, stretch your arms forward and bend until you can touch your toes. Do this for 3 minutes, eventually increasing time to 5 minutes, maximum. This is a short and simple exercise for the back, which tends to suffer from sitting at the office all day with little to no proper support, resulting in backache.

3. Elbows touching the knees

For this one, you have to stand up straight, with the right elbow touching the left knee (alternately); and right elbow touching the right knee. Do a set for 3 minutes each. The purpose of this exercise is to get your brain going, leading to enhanced focus. One activity should be done slowly at first until you pick up momentum and be completely on it.

Exercises are great and very beneficial. These simple 3 exercises are created for individuals who are always on the go and like to boost their productivity levels. From stretching to mnemonics, there is always a good and effective exercise for everyone.
