10 Great Gift Ideas for the Person Who Loves Travelling

It’s almost Christmas time and the closer it gets; the more people stress about finding the perfect gift. What is the perfect present? What do they actually want? What do they need? What are their passions? There are lots of questions that need answering to come up with the perfect solution and gift. As someone who is on a plane about half the year going around the world looking for the perfect villas for our clients at Exceptional Villas, I have a good insight into what most travelers need and like. I have tried to include gifts for every budget and for your closest loved ones to your Chris kindle work colleagues. Here are ten suggestions.

1. A journal

There is nothing nicer when you discover a journal from years before and you can relive some of your amazing experiences. It is a lovely inexpensive yet thoughtful present.

2. Travel cosmetics

If you like to travel with hand luggage, there is something lovely and convenient about having miniature versions of your favourite shampoos, conditioners, body cream, hand cream and face moisturizers. Elemis do a particularly lovey travel set but there are lots of companies that do similar products, and it makes a great inexpensive gift.

3. Travel Pillow

We have all woken up with a sore neck as a result of our neck falling forward or sideways. A special travel pillow can prevent this and keep you in a nice comfy position.

4. Noise cancelling earphones

These are a great present for someone who travels a lot. One of the things that is most tiring when travelling is noise pollution, and you only notice how bad the noise is when you put on the noise cancelling earphones, and you get to experience wonderful silence. There are hundreds of makes and models, but the best I have come across are made by Bose.

5. Travel Blanket

Aeroplane blankets are pretty horrible things. They are generally very scratchy, thin and don’t provide any warmth whatsoever. So, imagine cuddling up to a lovely soft cashmere or Marino wool blanket and how much better you might sleep as a result.

6. Leather passport holder

If you are a frequent traveller, your passport can get enormous handling and can fall apart. So, it is nice to keep it protected whilst you travel and why not have a nice looking one at the same time. If you really want to splurge, Smythson, the luxury stationery company in England, has some beautiful passport holders. Be prepared to spend a few dollars on it!

7. Travel Guides

If you know your loved one is planning a trip to a new country such as Costa Rica or The Dominican Republic, why not buy them a comprehensive travel guide. Both Lonely Planet and Eyewitness Travel have some great guides.

8. Carry on suitcase

Most regular travellers love a nice carry on suitcase especially a practical one where you can easily retrieve the items needed to go through security like laptops, iPad and liquids without tossing all the contents on the security table. Tumi do an amazing carry on bag which both looks great and has easy access pockets.

9. Travel Backpack

A nice travel backpack is a really useful item to give the regular traveller. I like one with lots of pockets so that you can store all your essential carry-on items in a really organized way. I also like a bag pack that can be used in different ways. The best is a travel backpack that works for your laptop and all the office needs but also one that you can use if you want to go down to the beach for the day or take a hike in the rainforest. Victorinox does some great options.

10. Foldaway Bag

This is a very useful item for the shopping lover. I don’t know how many times I have had to buy an unnecessary bag to bring my new goodies home!
