Nail Trends

If you enjoy keeping up with the latest fashion and beauty trends or experimenting with your personal style every once in a while, it’s more than likely that you’ll want to know what you can expect when it comes to looking great.

The first stop is your nails. This year, you need to step away from the classic reds and deep purples. Instead, it’s time to try some more adventurous hues and designs. After all, life is way too short for dull nails – so here’s what you should be asking for at the salon next time you book your appointment. Or, if you’re particularly creative, you can get to work on doing them yourself!

1. Add a bit of sunshine to your life with a yellow shade

One of the most luminous colours, yellow is the colour of sunflowers, lemons, bees and daffodils, and often leaves you feeling happy, optimistic and joyful. So why not choose to have it painted on your nails to cheer you up every day?

2. Ask for Pantone’s colour of the year – classic blue

The familiar, calming shade of azure beat all others to be crowned the colour of the year by Pantone. Elegant and simplistic, stay on trend and pick up a timeless blue hue when you next pop into a beauty retailer.

3. Grab some sticky tape and design your own zigzag nails

Jazz it up with some funky zigzag nails. Things you’ll need to complete the look: 2 shades of polish, some tape and a little bit of patience. This design will brighten any outfit.

When you think metallic nails, you may automatically think of the festive season. However, that’s not the case this year – metallics will still continue to dominate our feeds, from rose gold to shiny platinum.

5. Choose more than one shade and create a rainbow

Can’t decide on one colour? You don’t have to! This year, you can expect to see rainbow nails, which are being showcased by many celebrities already.

So there you have it – 5 nail trends you can experiment with yourself this year. Don’t forget, if you’re looking to do your own nails and are more of a gel polish fan than a regular nail varnish lover, you’re going to need a decent LED nail lamp. Luckily, they can be picked up affordably these days – and once you have one, you can change your nails up whenever you fancy!
