The London shopping destination, Canary Wharf, figured out that deciding what to wear for a continually changing body size was a real struggle for many pregnant women. For six out of 10 expectant mothers, the reply to their apparel choices was to purchase clothes double their size that loosely hid their swelling bumps and expanding waistlines. Some expectant mothers may feel they can get away with purchasing regular-sized clothing but in larger sizes. However, in addition to their expanding bellies, some women may not consider that their arms, back, and shoulders will also broaden. That’s why maternity dresses and garments are made to fit and complement your changing body. So, when purchasing clothes, buy maternity-sized items in your actual dress size. You can always stick to your pre-pregnancy style and find some beautiful flowy tops and dresses so you don’t spend too much money on something you can’t wear after delivery.

2. Choose Natural Fabrics

No sane mind would ever want to wear an outfit that is made of pure polyester at any time of the year, especially when you are expecting a baby. Natural, light, and comfortable fabrics, such as cotton and linen, are perfect because they are breathable. Synthetic materials work as a barrier, resulting in an overheated body, hence not good for the skin. If you are a working mom-to-be, opt for something soft and airy. Go for soft pastel colors or white cotton shirts for that simple, smart, stylish, yet professional look. You can also get your hands on some cotton camisoles as they are wearable and breathable and can be worn at the office or at dinner.

3. Invest in a Suit

If you are always on a mission to look smart and chic, a well-cut pregnancy suit is something you should invest in. Pick a neutral color and spice it up with colored tops and matching accessories. Opt for flowy skirts rather than trousers, as skirts can better adjust to your changing body shape.

4. Look for Adaptable Styles

Remember, when it comes to maternity outfits, your focus should be more on quality rather than quantity. Look for outfits that can last the entire pregnancy and even months after delivery. All you need to keep in mind are a few key points – ensure that the outfit you are investing in is of good quality because you might be using them for more than six months of the pregnancy. Pay close attention to empire lines, wrap dresses & tops, and drawstring pants as they can be helpful during the nursing period.

5. Wear Supportive Undergarments

Measuring your bust size is very important during pregnancy. Choosing the right undergarments not only means your body parts are fully supported, but it also keeps your body in the right shape. Whether you are an expectant mom or not, it feels incredible to be in undergarments that are perfect for your appearance – giving you the boost and confidence you need during pregnancy.
