It is not like you should completely avoid using the microwave, but there are some precautionary measures that you can take, and there will be no health hazards.

Here are some Do’s and Don’ts that you should know:

1. Never use metal utensils

Always use plastic and glass utensils in a microwave. Metal utensils tend to get hot rapidly, and the rays can reflect from the surface which can cause sparks. Even a little layer of metal can cause damage. It includes all kinds of metals and pans.

2. Cover your food

It is one of the most common recommendations you are going to see. Always cover your food while heating it. The rays which are used for heating the food can be very dangerous. Also, normally people heat their food in plastic containers, and according to the recent researches the rays can melt the upper layer of plastic, and the food can become contaminated with it. Also, it is better to cover your food for better results. It preserves the moisture inside the contains and the food will not dry out.

3. Defrosting

For defrosting the food in a better way, it is recommended to defrost them in the container in which they come in. Prior to that made sure that you become all kind of packaging. Any type of plastic wrapping, cork, foam trays etc. can be harmful. It is recommended for processed food like pork, beef, corn, mutton etc. otherwise for defrosting frozen products like French fries, nuggets, you can use any container. 4. Read the manual

One of the most common mistakes done by most of us is that we skip the learning part and try and jump off to use the product. This is an extremely harmful approach. 5. Read the instructions given on food items

Every food item requires a different procedure to be cooked properly. You need to read that instruction too. You need to cook the food for just the right amount of time. Otherwise, you can ruin the whole item. Undercooking the food can leave you with a cold and uncooked meal, whilst overcooking the food can leave you with soggy and burned meal. Read the instructions step by step and follow the lead.

6. Use microwaved designed containers

Keeping the health hazards insight, it is better to take the precautionary measures beforehand. There are special containers that are available in the market that are designed for heating things in the microwave oven. They have a safety mark at the bottom. They use special kind of plastic material that does not meet and make the food contaminated. If you do not see this mark under any bowl or plate, it is better not to use it.
