Playing Video Games Good or Bad

Since the beginning of the trend of playing the video games, the debate about them being good or bad for one’s health has been in. although there was never any scientific proof about it, but most of the people have commonly assumed that playing video games is not good at all for the mental and physical wellbeing of a person. The reason behind it could be that it is the human nature to blame someone or something for whenever we are in trouble and for this case the video games have always proved to be easy targets. But as the world of technology is evolving, many of the old misconceptions are being cancelled out and the same goes for the video games.

So let us find out whether or not the video games are good or bad for the health of the people who play them.

So the question that arises here is that, are video games really bad for us?

Or is this all just the old stories that we heard from some idle ladies in the past?

Let us find it out under the evidence of scientific study.

Most people are in favor of the comment that the video games can bring aggression and violence in the players especially when we are talking about the kids. They also think that the video games are responsible for rendering delay in the mental health and brain functionality and also hinder the ability to learn.

But there is no proof of any such thing from the studies other than the fact that the excess of everything is bad and so is true for the video games as well. So if you are playing them in some defined and limited hours, you will sure not get into the trouble of any of the things that are thought about it but if you are playing these games for 10 hours a day, there can be several more problems other than just being sick.

So let us look at the results of the studies and you are going to be delighted to learn that the results are all in the favor of video games as long as they are played in a safe time zone.

1. It can help slow down the aging process

Aging is something that cannot be denied by anyone. Every person who is young or old, male or female, rich or poor has to eventually get old and leave the perks of healthy youth behind. But surprisingly, the aging process of a person can be delayed or slowed down with the video games. The studies conducted at University of Lowa suggested that the people who play video games for a few hours each week get old lesser as compared to the others who do not. These video games are like the exercise of a brain just the way they do physical exercises. The theory behind this suggestion is that the body and brain both remain healthy and active when they are kept in exercise and it was proved under the careful analysis of the studies.

2. They can help you make better decisions

Another good effect of the video games is that they can help a person make a better decision and for this, a study was held where it was checked that the players who play video games frequently with the peripheral images changing all the time, were there sensory responses sharper than the others? And the studies revealed that it was true, the people who played video games had better decision making power compared to the others who did not and the studies were in favor of this study.

3. Games can help your eyesight and vision

There would hardly be a kid who would not have heard their parents say that you are going to go blind watching the screen all day and for some time it seemed like the right thing as well. this was due to the reason that when you are playing a game and you are focusing on it, you are immersed in it so much that you do not blink the way you blink the rest of the time. This sure can cause problems in the eyes but not as bad as effecting the eyesight or something else.

The studies that were held by a group of university students revealed that the people who play video games and those who do not, have the same eye sights, nothing is damaged with the game playing. However, one thing that the study found was that the people who played video games had a sharper vision while they were driving at night time, something that was developed due to playing the video games that had bright colors against gray backdrop paper.

4. Games can enhance your brain flexibility

Another study was held at two different institutes of UK and they both were based on the same ideology, which was to check whether or not the video games proved harmful for the brain or not. When the results were found, the studies revealed that the two groups that were presented with the option to play the games were successful in a way. The group that was given a slow game that mimicked real life was not able to produce any positive results but the other group that was given the fast game to play had produced positive results and proved that the games, specifically the fast games can increase the flexibility of the brain. This was due to the fact that the brain has to focus on the things that are moving out there in speed and for that it has to increase its concentration power that consequently made your brain more flexible.

So we see that the studies revealed that these video games are not so bad to play and they are good for the physical and mental health of the people who are involved in playing them.
