Fishing Gadgets

Fishing gadgets are a very specific niche because this is a very conservative hobby. Many don’t go fishing for fish – there is a shop for this. And, nevertheless, something interesting in this category is being created.

Let’s take a look at some fishing gadgets.

1. Echo sounder

If the amount of catch for you is an important criterion when fishing, then try to buy a sonar. This is probably the most popular gadget for fishing. The number of devices is estimated in dozens, and very large brands are noticed in the creation, take at least Garmin.

The echo sounder is able to explore the bottom: it transmits an electrical impulse that returns as sound. The built-in sonar receives reflected sound and displays objects on the sonar screen in the form of arcs and lines. Some models are able to work without a screen – using an application for a smartphone.

Sounder helps to find fish in the depths or in muddy water, without light.

Prices for echo sounders depend on the power and sensitivity of the receiver, the quality of the screen. There are also various models for fishing from the shore or fishing from a boat. Additional attachments for the boat allow you to securely fix the gadget on board.

2. Underwater video camera

The underwater camera allows you to monitor the fish in real time. The gadget removes objects under water and transfers the image to the screen. In addition to it, the device has a cable with an eye and a backlight. Lighting can be LED or infrared. The gadget gives a distinguishable image with sufficient transparency of water.

Such a device should be purchased by those who, in addition to fishing, like to observe the behavior of fish, to study the relief of the bottom or its contents. And still, the video camera for fishing is useful in the winter.

3. Waterproof smartwatch

There is an opinion among anglers that a mobile phone can be used to determine the time, weather and as a compass. In principle, it is possible. But, there is one nuance: constantly getting, putting it back in your pocket is not very convenient.

Often, the need to find out the time coincides with the bite, which leads not only to the disappointment of the missed opportunity to hook the fish but also to the phone tipping into the water. That is, waterproof smartwatches can fully meet the needs of the angler, and most importantly, provide comfort in the process of fishing. Of course, you can not call from them, but they will not be distracted from the main occupation.

The main distinguishing features of smartwatches for fishing:

  • Resistant to mechanical shocks and falls;
  • Resistant to moisture;
  • High level of reliability in different operating conditions;
  • The presence of additional features aimed at helping the fisherman.

Watches include smartwatches from Casio, Suunto, and Sunroad.

4. Smart bait

For lazy fishermen, smart lures were offered as an alternative to echo sounders, cameras that help to find out where the fish is. The logic is: why to look for a fish place if you can call the fish. One such project was on Kickstarter – Fish Call.

The gadget was thrown into the water and imitated the vibration and other signals that were supposed to remind the fish of the natural sounds of the feeding process. The fish had to go to the call.

The idea of creation belongs to the doctor of biological sciences, who devoted three decades to the study of fish sensory systems. As a result, he developed the bait, which acts as a stimulus to the nervous system of the fish, activating the taste areas, and the fish already necessarily swallows the bait.

5. GPS Navigator

The presence of a GPS navigator on fishing will allow you to use detailed electronic maps of the area, as well as the bottom of reservoirs with depth markings. Such a device will help you not to get lost in unfamiliar places and mark your favorites. You can mark and places with cool, and permanent parking.

Advanced models are equipped with additional sensors: a thermometer, a barometer, and a compass. An important characteristic of the device is the ability to catch a signal from several satellites. It is better to use a combined receiver: GPS + GLONASS.

Operate the navigator or buttons, or by means of the touch display. The touchscreen is more convenient, but it requires more energy and works worse in the cold. When choosing a navigator for fishing, consider the following factors:

  • Memory. The bigger, the better;
  • battery life. The optimal value is at least 10 hours;
  • type of shell. Must be protected from dust, moisture, and shock.
