How to Choose Anime as a Newbie to the Fascinating World

This list can go on forever and if you are an anime lover, you will know all these names. But if you are just being welcomed into the world of anime, you will be completely lost and not without reason – there is so much to choose from. Do you want to ride the rollercoaster ride of Pokémon tournaments with Ash, Misty, and Brock or would you rather accompany Usagi on her adventures?

Lost? No idea what I am going on about? You won’t be for too long! Because in this blog post, I am going to discuss 5 of the best anime you should watch to familiarise yourself with the beautiful, adventurous world! It doesn’t matter if you have watched one of these shows or none, I will guide you regardless. Just remember: dive in at your own risk – once you start to watch anime, there is no turning back!

Without further ado, let’s get right into it!

Dragonball Z

Don’t you just love shows in which a hero in shining armour jumps to the rescue at the first sign of trouble? If you do, this anime is for you. Set off on an exciting journey with Goku as he saves the world from a range of enemies including, aliens, androids, and much more!

Attack on Titan

Ever imagined a world protected from enemies by huge walls (pun intended)? Attack on Titan is set in just that kind of world – one that needs to be protected from man-eating humanoids! Watch as a grieving, vengeful Eren fights against the threat so that everyone can be safe.

Trigun

Riddled by retrograde amnesia and unaware of his past actions that have resulted in a MASSIVE bounty on his head, Vash the Stampede goes about his life, saving other lives using non-lethal force. All the while, he is followed by two men who minimize damages wherever he goes (cause by bounty hunters maybe?) And you need to follow his mysterious adventures!

Pokémon

You will have watched your fair share of tennis, basketball, football, cricket or any other favourite sport throughout your life. But you have never seen a tournament like the Pokémon tournament! Follow Pokémon hunters Ash, Misty, and Brock as they go on a journey of catching these wonderful creatures, training them for battle, and entering tournaments. Because after all, you ‘gotta check ‘em all’ (don’t worry, you’ll understand what I’m saying once you watch the anime)!

And now we come to my favourite anime, the one you absolutely have to start with!

Hellsing Ultimate

Are vampire attacks your thing? Well then this is definitely the anime for you! It is based on the activities of Hellsing Organisation, a secret body that runs with the aim of battling supernatural beings and keeping people safe. Like all secret associations, Hellsing also has a weapon that few can beat – a vampire, Alucard. Watch Hellsing Ultimate to follow his adventures and be left in awe!
