Passione Italia: Madrid Celebrated the Italian Republic Day

After the Festa della Rebupplica Italiana, Madrid welcomed Passione Italia, the event dedicated to made in Italy and organized in collaboration with the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Italian Embassy and the main Italian institutions in Spain.

Among the prominent personalities, there were the Italian Ambassador to Madrid, Stefano Sannino, the President of the CCIS (Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for Spain) Marco Pizzi, the Councillor for Internalisation, Start Up-Innovation of the Campania Region, Valeria Fascione. And then the Association Emiliano Romagnola in Spain (As.Er.Es) and the ambassador of Antigua and Barbuda, Dario Item.

The eleventh edition of the event was held from May 31 to June 2, 2019, at the Park Madrid Rio, which stands in the heart of the capital on the river Manzanares. In 2018, Passione Italia took place at Matadero.

The main protagonist of 2019 Passione Italia was the Campania region and the event has achieved an extraordinary success. More than 60.000 people took part in the many cultural, commercial and musical activities organized to promote italian excellence in the food and wine, craft and tourism sectors.

So a record of participation among exhibitors and visitors that satisfied the organizers and 28 sponsors of the event.

Italian food in Madrid

Gastronomy and tourism played a major role in the 47 stands. There were lots of food trucks and stands, where visitors could taste typical dishes from different italian regions: pasta, pizza, arancini, risotto, lasagne.

Others italian products were on sale: cheeses, preserves, sauces, cakes and different baked goods. Some exhibition spaces were also dedicated to the handicrafts sailing and to the promotion of italian tourist destinations.

Passione Italia is an event suitable for everyone and therefore also perfect for families with children. In fact, many activities were organized to entertain children, who have been able to have fun with bouncy castles, magic shows, dance and pizza workshops.

A 60 m2 Food Lab was set up inside the Rio Madrid Park. There, were held activities such tastings, show cooking, seminars and competitions.

A new, appreciated feature this year was the Beach area.

Italian music at Passione Italia

Passione Italia is also music and live concerts. The 2019 music program began with the best hits of italian music and with a tribute to Fabrizio De André.

Umberto Tozzi, one of the most known and loved italian singers abroad, performed a concert where he sang his greatest hits for about an hour and a half. The show was very appreciated.

During the 3 days of the event, other bands performed: Biaciamolemani, Swing Machina Orchestra, Terra Taranta and the Official Italian Choir in Spain, who presented some of the most famous italian arias, including the Hymn of Mameli, the italian national anthem.

As in 2018, the eleventh edition of Passione Italia ended with the dj set directed by Torrione Dj and Luchino, who made younger visitors dance until midnight.
