The primary function of every battery is to store electrical energy in the form of chemical energy. Nowadays, there are roughly more than four thousand batteries in the market, but choosing the right one for your purpose is a tricky job. Fundamental differences between standard and trolling motor battery:

  • Start-up Power

Normal cells are mostly used in cars, homes, offices, and other several places. The essential functions of these are to crank cars or to supply power to houses during power cuts. These batteries are not so powerful when compared to trolling batteries or marine batteries, which renders a high voltage for a start-up power.

In ordinary batteries, they are supplied with 330 Amp of current to start up the engine or to power the home. Batteries equipped in homes and offices do not need any cable to start. The reason is those are automated, whereas batteries fitted in trolling boats and ships need a cable or a manual handle to run them.

These marine batteries emit high voltage to start an engine of that size, which makes it different from others.

  • Stability

A trolling motor battery is designed in such a way that it could run the engine for a long duration with a single constant recharge. These batteries are so stable and robust that it can run the motor of a boat or a trolling ship for several hours, even it supplies current for a full long day. The energy storing capacity in these batteries is very high than usual.

For ordinary batteries used in homes and offices, they are prone to loss of energy after three to four hours. It needs to be recharged from time to time to keep them running. Whereas, it has been noticed that the trolling batteries keep on supplying power, for a day or two when the boat is stuck on the sea due to poor weather conditions

  • Durability

The durability of any battery depends upon its use. For batteries used on trolling or marine boats, they are mainly used to power up the navigation systems, radio communications, and other necessary equipment. In cells fixed to cars operates mostly the power windows, air conditioners, music systems and other gadgets installed in them. But once the vehicle starts, the battery goes into a recharging mode.

The primary durability of these standard batteries can be measured when there is a power cut or the car stops. A few drops in voltage results in turning off this equipment at once, but a trolling motor battery keeps on supplying current to all the gadgets even there is a high drop of voltage.

These trolling motor batteries are so powerful that if it is attached to cars, it will damage the whole engine at once. And will also ruin the entire circuit if it is used to supply current in houses. The regular batteries would only work for a few hours before dying out, but the trolling motor batteries would work for days with a single recharge.
