Herbalife Nutrition Clubs Stress

Since it burst onto the scene in 1980, Herbalife Nutrition has been firmly dedicated to improving public health and wellness through its broad spectrum of nutritional support services and products to supplement a daily diet.  In the words of Herbalife Executive Vice President of Worldwide Sales, Rob Levy, Herbalife Nutrition’s independent distributors have a long history of “imagining a world of customer experiences designed to improve people’s eating and wellness habits” and a unique ability to “customize ways to engage people every day in healthy nutrition and to support, motivate, and guide them to results.”

Nearly a decade ago, the company dramatically expanded its community health and wellness outreach when independent distributors established the first Herbalife Nutrition Club in Mexico. They designed this club to provide a physical space for the community to get together, share nutritious Herbalife products, get helpful nutritional tips, participate in group exercise, and find inspiration through targeted weight loss challenges and other activities.

It turns out that Herbalife was far ahead of its time when it comes to recognizing the supreme importance of community in the fight for improved health and wellness. Since the birth of the Herbalife Nutrition Club, countless studies have found distinct links between healthy social connections and healthy physicality.

In its article “Do Social Ties Affect Our Health?”, the US National Institutes of Health (NIH) identifies several key links between positive relationships and good health. Among other scientific findings, it highlighted that married couples tend to live longer than unmarried couples. When marriages are positive and supportive, couples enjoy even greater health benefits.

Perhaps even more important, the NIH hails the inspirational power of a healthy relationship. As it points out, “when one spouse improves his or her health behaviors — such as by exercising, drinking or smoking less, or getting a flu shot — the other spouse is likely to do so, too.”

While studying exercise, researchers at the University of Aberdeen reached some strikingly similar results. In short, they discovered that exercising with a companion increases the number of exercises people are willing and able to complete. Furthermore, the amount of exercise completed is even greater when the chosen exercise companion is emotionally supportive.

Herbalife Nutrition has taken studies such as those of the NIH and U of A firmly to heart. The company’s Vice President of Worldwide Sports Performance and Fitness, Samantha Clayton, highlights multiple advantages of working out with friends. “Research shows that you’re more accountable to show up, you’ll learn new moves, and you’ll work harder,” she writes. “It also has a greater calming effect than when done alone.”

According to Samanthan Clayton, who is also a former Olympian, Herbalife Nutrition Clubs worldwide are great places to find exercise partners. The network of support at any local Herbalife Nutrition Club can help members live healthier lifestyles in multiple aspects.

Significantly, many Herbalife Nutrition Clubs operate in urban areas that qualify as “food deserts. Plagued by a lack of healthy food options and a lack of quality fitness resources, these areas often fall prey to devastating health and wellness disparities. By operating in these areas, Herbalife Nutrition Clubs can provide a figurative lifeline to disadvantaged populations. Not only do they provide access to good nutrition, such as nutritious protein shakes and low-calorie beverages, but they also share meal plans, nutritional materials and fitness routines developed by Herbalife’s experts.

Today, there are more than 75,000 Nutrition Clubs worldwide. The reason for their success is strikingly simple: Herbalife Nutrition Clubs leverage the incredible power of community and social interaction to make a real difference in the realm of public health, helping people to live longer and healthier lives. As Herbalife Executive Vice President of Global Corporate Affairs, Alan Hoffman puts it, “Herbalife Nutrition Clubs demonstrate just how big an impact one innovation based on human interaction and social support can have.” Read more:
