Jokeroo Ransomware Enters Your System Legally and Disrupts Your Files

Jokeroo Ransomware

The threat of Ransomware has been rising to a considerable extent. In fact, the hackers have been employing newer techniques for developing new ransomware options. Jokeroo Ransomware is one such example.

Jokeroo is one of those innovative and unique ransomware that scams your device and leaves you practically with nothing! The malware works as a Ransomware as a service. This would make it offer the code and let the hacker’s launch cryptoviruses. What makes it a dangerous option is it can spread quite actively as a underground hacking sites like Twitter or other social networking sites.

As a beginning, it began working as GandCrab RaaS and was propagated through one of the underground websites, Exploit.in. Later on, the malware was renamed to Jokeroo Ransomware. The service was even advertised on Twitter.

Jokeroo has one single goal – it wants to spread their infection to as much wider range of devices as would be possible. This is exactly what the developers have been planning to do and why they have been into convincing the hackers around the globe to spread it further ahead.

The ransomware as a service has so far been one of the best techniques as an effective attack on the sites. The developers create a ransomware and payment service and thus sell the code to the affiliates. These ransomware are then injected into the systems of unsuspecting victims. The ransom collected from these victims is distributed between affiliates and developers.

RaaS or Ransomware as a service can appear to be quite strange for some of us. In fact, ransomware has now been using what was so far used for the legitimate services. Jokeroo Ransomware has membership tiers for the hackers globally. The cheapest package will let an affiliate earn 85 per cent of the ransom collected, while the 15 per cent goes to the developers.

Do you think the ransomware has entered your system? Your priority should be to eliminate from your system as soon as possible. ZoneAlarm and similar other ransomware fighters can be a great option in taking due care of the virus. The longer time it stays on your system, you would find that you are losing more files. Once your files are lost, there is not much of a chance to recover them. In fact, there have been claims that there is no decryptor designed by the developers and there is no guarantee that the hackers would decrypt your files once the ransom is collected.

Make sure that you are taking actions to remove the Jokeroo Ransomware as soon as it hits your system. If any of your files have been affected, you can attempt recovering them using data recovery tools like Data recovery pro, or similar other options. However, do note that we cannot guarantee that the files can be recovered with these tools, but we do not find any harm in giving it a try.

The most common methods that hackers use for infecting your devices would be through email attachments that appear to be arrive from the reliable sources. It would be advisable to remove all those emails that appear unreliable. Opt for an antivirus that can scan email attachments and email messages so that you stay protected to a fullest extent. You can even benefit from the data backups if you have any.

Jokeroo has recently been propagating a news that they have been blocked by several authorities. This appears to be a part of an exit scam where they would want to vanish right away by claiming that they have been blocked and run away with all the money that they have collected.
