Self-control can be defined as a management of one’s own behavior, specifically when the behavior is helmed by subconscious urges or temptations that fight with one’s conscious goals. Self-control is often called as impulse control.

The best ever test of self-control is how long an individual can endure an uncomfortable or tempting situation, such as holding hand in icy water as the hand gets more cold and less comfortable, the urge is to pull it out from the icy water. Some people can’t control themselves when they smell something sweet or sugary and some couldn’t just let it go when they get a glance of some real drinks. But, losing self control could be really worse for us as we get addicted to our weaknesses.

Here are some of the reasons to have self control in life.

Makes you happier

Now you must me thinking, a person with high self control could never ever have fun in life as he has the control over himself all the time. But the recent study suggests that people with better self control find it much easier to deal with goal conflict. They don’t lose their strength over silly urges like, fatty foods, addictive TV shows, bad addictions like smoking and drinking. However, they always make the right choice which makes them more happier compared to people who have less self control.

You will stop lying

According to the research, people who have less self control, can’t help lying. They just lie frequently which makes them losing self control even more and more. People with high self control don’t lie at all. I think, if they make right choice, they don’t really need to lie ever.

Makes you sacrifice for others

People who have more self control do have strong hearts, hence they sacrifice more for the sake of their relationships and happiness of their loved ones, as compared to people with less self control as they are somewhat more selfish in nature.

Make fair decisions

High self controlled people make fair decisions and fair justice. People who are highly self controlled have the capability to think more fairly as they are more self-disciplined.

Culture loyalty and honesty

People who have high self control are the most loyal and trust worthy people. You could rely on these kind of people as they never gonna leak your thoughts, words and promises with anyone.
