The Best Way to Tailgate for Events

There is nothing like a tailgate to really make a game enjoyable. It doesn’t matter if it is a tailgate for a children’s football league, a major league soccer game, a college basketball game, or an NFL game–Americans love to tailgate. In fact, we even give out awards for tailgating! At any given time during the football season, as many as 18 million Americans are tailgating. You can’t really tailgate effectively if you aren’t protected from the elements. For that reason, we have some tailgate tents for you to choose from, while we take time to tell you all about are amazing tailgate tents.

The First Tailgates

Rumor has it that the first tailgating events were not held during a sporting event. Instead, they were held during the Civil War. At one of the first battles, First Bull Run, men brought their ladies out for the day to see the “fun”. Many people came down from Washington, D.C. during the day, and brought their picnic lunches so they could watch the battle and eat at the same time. This event was roughly eight years before the first football games.

When football began on the weekends, people would take their Saturday or Sunday lunches, and go out to the field to watch. Gradually, tailgating became a pastime during football games. It has also gained ground with baseball, hockey, pro football, and basketball as well.

What A Good Tailgate Has

First, a good tailgate has to have good food. Many people go all out on the food, because they feel it reflects the spirit of their team. For example, LSU fans or Saints fans often have Louisiana food at their tailgates, such as gumbo or fried gator tail. There are people who will even cook a whole pig at a tailgate. The point is, people try to outdo each other over the food. Contests are held often, and prizes given for the best tailgate food.

In addition to food, great tailgates have great drinks. No matter whether you have alcoholic beverages or non-alcoholic beverages–you need to have plenty in order to satisfy a thirsty group. You also have to have plenty of seating, spaces for game play, and conversation. People even bring their large screen TV’s, radios, and light shows with music. I Need A Tailgate Tent?

Yes, you do, for a variety of reasons. Your tailgate area needs a tailgate tent for protection from sudden rainstorms. It also needs shelter from the sometimes brutal sun, especially at the beginning of football season, when temperatures can be horrifically hot. You want your guests to be able to sit comfortably and converse without getting hot and sunburned. If you love to tailgate, you need some shade to allow guests to play cornhole, eat or watch your TV. You also need to protect your generator, which runs a lot of stuff you need to tailgate effectively. All of these are great reasons you need a tailgate tent in your life. If you need a place to relax, sit back, and enjoy the weather without worrying about the sun or rain, you need a tailgate tent.
