How to Avoid Panic in Class 7 Students Giving IMO Maths Olympiad

Class 7 Students Giving IMO Maths Olympiad

Exams are always a thing that most students hate the most. They feel different kinds of emotions all at once. However, when it comes to Olympiads like IMO, the pressure level rises, the stress level rises, the panic level rises, the competition level rises and many such emotions get a boost. Now, when the Olympiad is of math, then one can be sure of seeing most students as panic stricken, especially class 7 students who have just stepped into advanced maths from a beginners level. They find it difficult to understand this sudden progress and switch and certainly the Olympiad wants more from them than the class books alone. So, to face panic is normal but then not doing anything about it can be dangerous for the health of the students. The best thing students can do to ensure better preparation is to control that panic. There are a variety of things that the students can do. The article will give slight guidance on how they can control their panic and ensure calmness throughout the preparation and exam. The following tips can be very beneficial.

Buy a workbook

This is a real sense of relief for all class 7 students. This book saves a lot of effort that the student would otherwise have to make. All the essence and depth of the exam would be available to the students with this book. They would know what they are doing and would eliminate unnecessary panic from the students. This also makes the preparation fun for students because of the various things and content that it has for class 7 students.

Study with breaks

It is very important for students to take breaks. The break that they take would help them get back to the phase they were in when they started i.e. they would feel relaxed and calm again. This will help take in and practice more sums. Maths can be really draining if done continuously. Therefore, breaks will help them have a steady and relaxed approach to their studies.

Practice every day

Students who practice every day are seen to experience less panic and feel more accomplished. It is very essential for students to strengthen their preparation and this can only happen once they start practising daily. They should solve all types of questions to practice. They can also solve many Previous Year Paper for IMO Class 7 Maths 2015. The continuous practice as is said makes a man perfect so it goes for math students of class 7 as well. Therefore, if students want to avoid end minute panic, they have to practice regularly.

Feel Organized

A really important thing that students are taught from their childhood is management, organization and discipline. They are taught this for a reason, the curriculum knows that this is what will prevent the students from panicking and burden and would help them reach their goal. So, the students should make sure that they are well organized. They know what part of the syllabus is to be done when. When should they start and when should they stop makes a very important part of organized behaviour.

Outdoor Activities

Now, this is a part of human life that should not be compromised for anything especially in the students. This aspect not only is important to make students feel happy and relaxed because of its recreational nature but also helps them link what they studied to the field and make sense of the real world. Thus, to ensure that the student is doing well and is in a fine state, make sure this is very much a part of their life.

Communication

Students should constantly communicate with people giving the exam, with friends and with family. This is something that students stop doing or do a lot when they are under stress or are panic-stricken. Therefore, they and their family and teachers should keep a check on it. If it does happen that they talk too little or talk too much then communication in a subtle manner can be very helpful. However, this does not mean that students should be interrupted when they are studying seeing that they are not talking, give them time and assess as per their normal behaviour.

Search for good tutors

If the students feel that they cannot prepare alone and that they need guidance then their opinion and need should be accepted because it is not uncommon that students require help for the preparation of such an exam. This is because the difficulty level is high and students may get nervous while preparing for it. A tutor who knows how to solve such questions can guide the students as per their needs at the moment.

Do not pressurize

Parents and teachers should not pressurize the students to get a certain number of marks or should not force them to study if they are not willing to. This may cause unnecessary pressure. Students should avoid peer pressure as much as possible.

Relax during exams

Students should relax first and then see the paper. They should set a time span for each section but even if they are not able to complete it in the given time span for that section, they can move to the next question and relax because if they get panicked then they would not be able to rest. Instead, they should always save time for revision during which they can try and solve the unsolved question/s again. This will ensure calmness and would avoid any unnecessary mistakes during the exam.

Exams are part of life and there to teach us something. Unnecessary and too much panic and stress hinder the growth that it has to offer. Thereby, relax, compose and stay calm throughout the exam because if the students don’t do this then the students are at a higher risk of losing marks than otherwise, they would have.
