Where Video Games Are Going in 2019

Video Games in 2019

Video games have come a long way since the first inception a few decades ago. With improved processing power, sound, and graphics the visual appeal of the worlds can be stunning. New games are capable of a complexity and intricacy that has never been available before.

Many old time gamers and purists believe that a good game requires more than stunning graphics. It’s the actual game play that is the fun and addictive part of video games. Stunning graphics are great, but gameplay and storyline matter more.

Too much complexity can also detract from having an enjoyable gaming experience. That doesn’t mean that high levels shouldn’t be complex, but gamers should have to take a class to begin playing a new game.

How people play games is mostly holding steady. More people are gravitating towards laptops than desktops, and some people do a lot of their computing on mobile devices like phones and tablets. There will always be the hardcore PC gamers, but consoles are still king when it comes to gaming.

Sony seems to hold the top spot for the console market with the PlayStation 4 Pro and PlayStation 4 Slim being the most popular new consoles of 2019. They are closely followed by the Microsoft Xbox One S. Nintendo is still in the running for kids and portable play with the New Nintendo 2DS XL and the Nintendo Switch.

Popular types of games include action games like shooters, fighting games, and survival games. Another classic action style game is project igi. Action adventure and survival horror games are also popular. Role-playing games or RPGs are still super popular. Simulation, strategy, sports, and racing games are also all popular choices.

VR should be big in 2019 with games for PSVR, Oculus Rift, and HTC Vive. Some of the games that are supposed to be released this year include Population: One a shooter game where you can climb, build forts, and of course fly.

Stormland allows you to travel through a cloudscape to save your friends. You can run up cliffs, fly, and glide to your heart’s content. You will also have weapons, explosives, and even electricity.

Blood & Truth allows you to be a special forces officer desperately trying to save your family. By desperate we mean blasting anything that gets in your way. You can also journey into space in Lone Echo II. There is also an awesome Vacation Simulator, Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs, and Trover Saves the Universe.

If VR is your thing 2019 should have a lot of new and a few old or remade options to choose from. Some of the other biggest games of 2019 include the remake of Resident Evil 2, Kingdom Hearts 3, and Anthem.

There is also Crackdown 3, Metro: Exodus, and Devil May Cry 5. This is just scratching the surface of some of the top games and trends for games in 2019. Some say AR gaming may surpass VR gaming because there is no need for a headset. AR can be used on your phone as in Pokémon GO. Cloud gaming is also in the works, but not yet ready for prime time.
