Essential Things Every Indian Girl Should Keep In Mind To Avoid Rapes

This post was last updated on August 3rd, 2016

Is it our fault getting raped, molested and sexually abused by some extremely idiot fellows? It’s really sad to know that we are living in such a society, who has no individuality and strength of standing out with own opinions. If anything wrong happens with a girl, the first statement that always stands out is only related to girl. For example, “Why did you let her go there even?” “How could you let her go alone?” “What was she doing there?” “What kind of clothes was she wearing?” Not a single person gives a damn shit about those idiotic criminals who committed the crime. Whenever any rape case pops out in the society, people immediately get ready with their lit candles to go for a protest march. I am wondering, if those people are so much concerned about the rape victim, then why don’t they act or speak up when it’s actually needed. Why?

How to avoid rapes in India

When a girl gets molested, threatened or assaulted sexually, the only precautions taken by our forged concern public is not letting girls to go out anywhere, or putting restrictions on girls regarding their clothes, using cell phones, going out alone, friends circle and many more. No one ever thinks that about the girl and what she is going through. Guys, wake up please!! It’s not only about women’s safety, it’s about women’s right too. Stop blaming your daughters, your sisters, your wives, girlfriends. Your restrictions, your efforts, your anger needs a right direction, i.e. those criminals out there who after committing such shameful and recreant crime are still roaming freely on roads, looking for their next innocent prey.

OSCCs- One Stop Crisis Centres by Justice Usha Mehra Commission was set up post the horrifying ‘Delhi Gang Rape’ in December 2012, to provide a recommendation for women’s safety and judicial procedure. OSCCs which is a media legal and judicial process comprises of a Doctor, a Counsellor, a Police official and a visiting Lawyer for the immediate treatment and rehabilitation of the sexual assaulted survivors. Is this enough for women’s protection and safety from anything evil and awry getting happened? I don’t think so. Here are some most important things every girl should know and keep in mind.

1. Carry a Pepper Spray in your Bag.

A chemical spray which irritates eyes giving burning sensation and pain with tears and even causes temporary blindness, is easily available in  good medical stores.

2. Keep a personal Pocket  Safety Alarm.

A pocket safety alarm is a light weight wireless device which runs on long life batteries and easily available in departmental stores can help using alarm anytime whenever you are in danger.

3. Download a Personal Safety Mobile App.

Today’s technology has gone so far that we can have a safety mobile app. These applications are easily available on Google Play, Playstore, Lumia Marketplace Collection. All you need is download the app and use your smartphone for your personal safety.

4. Stay Alert at Parties.

If you ever attend a party, nightclub or pubs then better stay alert. Check your drinks and food, as anyone can add some drugs to your drinks. These drugs have sedative, hypnotic and amnesiac effects, can make you unconscious and prone to rape risks. So, girls next time when you go for washroom better avoid drinks by your friends or anyone.

5. Self Defence.

Get the basics of self defence as they can help you in defending yourself from strangers attack. Don’t get panic ever, as it makes your brain numb. If still you can’t have the training or moves for defence, hit the attackers balls as hard as you can or throw stones on them and their balls.

6. Social Networking Precautions.

If you have a new friend on your social networking site, don’t meet them alone or let them touch you physically or even don’t get into physical relationship with them as they can trouble you later blackmailing you with your private pictures or some sort of physical videos which can lead you to a serious problem.

7. Scream as loud as you can.

If you ever get stalked by any stranger or harassed on roads, or sexually assaulted in office or malls or parking lot, then shout and scream hard and loud the best you can. This can be your true defence as it can aware the surrounding people scaring the attacker.

8. Act Smartly.

Now if you are in a elevator or lift and you are all alone. Then don’t panic, act smart. Press all of the floor buttons which can be an amazing defence weapon for you. The elevator will stop at each floor which will stop the attacker to assault you, even before doing anything he will take a second thought.

9. On Drive Measures.

If someone is stalking your car or your vehicle try to find more crowd places or market areas. Make two phone calls i.e. to the nearest police station or any you know and your parents, because no one else will care about you seriously.

Girl’s if no one stands out for our protection, then it’s our ultimate fight for our safety and our rights. Enough of staying silent and afraid, raise your voice, don’t feel ashamed. It’s their time to feel ashamed off, it is never our fault. Speak up and fight back, it’s now or never.
