How to Ditch the Monday Blues and Have a Productive Work Week

How to Ditch the Monday Blues

There’s just something about Mondays that puts everyone in a bad mood for some reason. Could it be that reality set in on the Sunday before, that you will indeed be going to work the next day? Or is it that you partied too hard all weekend, and you just don’t want the fun to end? Whatever the case may be, those “Monday Blues” have to go!

Have you ever stopped to think about what exactly it is that puts us in a bad mood about Mondays? Mondays seem so terrible because they are so far from Friday. You have to endure four whole days before you reach the promised land of Friday, but luckily, we have Wednesdays to get us over the hump, right?

Well, if you can identify what exactly it is subconsciously that makes you dislike Mondays, then you might actually be able to be more proactive about it and take the necessary steps to improve your mindset. If you don’t know what it is, then try to follow these steps and see how it affects your outlook on Mondays?

Change Your Mindset

Your mind plays a big role in everything you do and how you think. If you can change your mindset for success, then Mondays really shouldn’t be so bad, but it starts with you.

Let’s start with Friday. On Thursday night, you were already in a better mood just knowing that the very next day is Friday. When you got off on Friday, you let the good times roll! Now, fast forward to Sunday. Sunday, your mood is nowhere near as high as it was on Thursday night, knowing that Friday was awaiting you. On Sunday, you know that Monday is awaiting you, therefore your Sunday is slightly melancholy.

Now is the time to change your mindset. You already know that Monday is coming, so why not take advantage of Mondays to be productive. If you already know your workload for Monday, why not take 15-20 minutes out of your Sunday to prep for Monday. If anything, your Monday can go a lot smoother by prepping for it in advance. Take a little time on Sunday to set goals and prioritize what you want to get accomplished on Monday.

Get Plenty of Rest

If you know that Mondays are not your best days, one thing you can do to make sure your day goes smoothly is to be sure you get plenty of rest. Rest is important for everyone, and without it, you won’t have the energy to function. One of the worst things to experience is being at work, with a heavy workload, and you’re exhausted due to not getting enough rest.

One great way to ensure a good night’s rest is to invest in a good bedding set. If you want to get a higher quality of sleep, then you have to get higher quality bedding. You want bedding that feels good on your skin and keeps you the right temperature throughout the night, you can only really get that type of quality with luxury bedding.

Another way to get enough rest is to give yourself a bedtime! When you think of bedtimes, you typically think of children, but there’s nothing wrong with being an adult and giving yourself a set bedtime. In fact, that’s really part of being a responsible adult. Not being mature enough to ensure you tuck yourself in at a reasonable hour can be detrimental to having a productive and successful Monday. So, don’t sell yourself short on sleep, just because you feel you’re “too grown up” to have a bedtime.

Dress for Success

They say “when you look good, you feel good,” and that has been proven true, time and again. When you take the time out to dress appropriately for work, you feel a confidence that makes you want to be as successful as you look.

Dressing for success doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to wear business suits all the time either. You of course want to dress in a way that conforms to your company’s dress code, but you also want to feel comfortable in whatever you wear. Being comfortable in your outfit is part of what brings out that confidence.

You can wear suits if you like, but you can also wear dresses, skirts and heels, it just depends on the type of work you do. The movie Legally Blonde was a perfect example of dressing for success. She was a lawyer that wore pink suits. According to the movie, her style of dressing didn’t violate the firm’s dress code, but pink is not a color you typically see in the courtroom either. Nonetheless, it was in her pink suit that she won her first case. So when you’re confident in what you wear, your potential for success goes up tremendously!
