How to Travel to Cancun and Riviera Maya With Toddlers

I consider myself the best person to advise about traveling with children to a city you don’t know. Because in the beginning, the idea terrified me, as it did you, I probably had a lot of complicated situations that I could live during my vacation with children.

To many people, getting to know a new place with children can seem a bit tedious and even boring. However, it’s a lot of fun, you can probably get to know places that you didn’t plan for and do activities that you are ready for, but if there’s one thing I’ve learned from my travels, it’s that unscheduled events are usually the best experiences of every trip.

Xcaret

Xcaret is one of my favorite places and the one I would recommend the most to travel with small children. It’s like visiting the whole Mayan Riviera in a tiny piece of land, where both kids and adults have fun guaranteed. (besides, if your kids are under five years old, the entrance is entirely free, unless you order something at the restaurant, that is if it has an extra cost).

During your visit to Xcaret, you can buy floats or bring them yourself, with which I assure you your little one will have guaranteed fun, and you will be able to get to know the site without worrying about your little one not knowing how to swim. But it will be a bit scary at first because Xcaret is not the same.

CrocoCun

CrocoCun is a perfect zoo for children. Because, in addition to having specialized caretakers, you can meet different species of birds, reptiles, and marine animals that I assure you will keep your children more than happy. You should keep an eye on them because there is security in the area. However, an accident can occur. It is much better to keep an eye on the little ones during your visit to this place.

Mayan Museum

The Mayan Museum in Cancun is a small representation of the entire Mayan Riviera, and here you can visit a small archaeological site. Because it’s not that big, it’s one of the perfect places to visit with children, since they won’t run any risks if you decide that climbing the pyramids will be an excellent idea.

Isla Mujeres

Isla Mujeres is one of the best places to visit with children, in addition to the fact that it is not very big. By renting a golf cart, you can get to know the area in less than 50 minutes, so you will not have to deal with the stress of the children starting to get desperate because of the time you have spent touring the city.

One of the activities that you will love to do on this beautiful island is to visit the Garrafón Park, where you will be able to see the beauty of the Caribbean Sea while you immerse yourself in a tropical environment ideal for both adults and children. You can relax on the deckchairs and rest while your children play in the splash pool.

Ventura Park

Many of us got to know him as wet n wild (that’s how it was in my first visit to Cancun) until a few months ago when I found out with my three-year-old son that he has a different name (although they are still the same activities).

The kids will like the artificial wave pool and the artificial river, there is swimming with dolphins, and you will never guess… kids under five years old will not have to pay anything at all! Great, isn’t it?

Important Travel Tips

If you are going to travel, you have to know that you will not always have the signal you deserve, sometimes you will not have it, so we recommend you download all the maps you need to get to your destination (before doing this free up space on your device).

Also, get a guide to essential places in the city. Usually, people who sell tours can offer you a guide completely free.
