Enjoy The Great OutdoorsIf you’re looking for some adrenaline-boosting activities, just go outside! There are plenty of things to do to enjoy the outdoors, here we cover seven things you can do to explore nature at its best.

1. Jump in a Kayak

Kayaking offers benefits for both body and mind. It’s an excellent way to exercise and being out on the water refreshes the spirit.

The first thing you need to know about kayaking is that it’s more technical than canoeing. There’s no need to buy a kayak though. You can rent one and take lessons (which is recommended to learn proper paddling technique). Just make sure you explore an area where there’s a lifeguard on duty. It’s best to start on a lake as rivers can be tricky for new kayakers.

From Mexico to Norway there’s something for everyone so get researching and find out where would work best for your interests and level of skill.

2. Go Deer Spotting

If you’re passionate about deer, why not try some deer spotting? Seeing these endearing creatures in their natural habitat is so rewarding. There are various deer cameras on the market to aid you in learning about the movements of the deer. Finding trail and deer cameras that suit your needs is important so do your research beforehand to make sure you invest in one that works for you and suits your budget. Then go and get spotting!

3. Test your balance SUPing

SUPing or stand up paddle boarding is an excellent way to connect with the open ocean and is easy to learn. It entails standing on a longboard and using a paddle to navigate through the water. It has been described by some as a serene and calm sport as opposed to surfing and snowboarding which is more for the adrenaline junkie. And you’ll get a great core workout too, what a bonus!

4. Go into the depths

Want to venture into a world of darkness with lots of twists and turns? Then caving may be your thing. There are different ways to cave from standing up and walking through caves, floating along them (called black water rafting) or caving that requires abseiling, squeezing or climbing.

There’s a cave to explore for everyone. Remember to go with an experienced guide who can aid you in your cave journey, especially if the cave requires special equipment or expertise.

5. Plunge into the waters

Diving is said to be for anyone aged 8 to 80, so don’t let age stop you. There are a few things to keep in mind though that are no-nos for diving. These are high blood pressure, insulin resistant type 1 diabetes and asthma induced by cold or moderate exercise. It’s wise to consult a hyperbaric physician who can advise you on whether to dive or not.

Practising yoga and swimming before taking a dive course (which can be three days or more) is recommended to give you confidence underwater. It’s fun though if you adhere to the safety precautions and is a wonderful way to explore and learn more about the ocean.

6. Surf up a storm

According to the Cambridge Dictionary surfing is simply, “the sport of riding on a wave on a special board”. But surf enthusiasts will argue that there’s way more to surfing than that! It’s a high paced sport that takes a lot of skill to make it look as effortless as the pros.

You can try surfing by taking a surf lesson from a surf school, the best way to learn. Here you’ll get to grips with the basics and learn about the best surfboard to use and most appropriate beaches to start your surfing adventure.

7. Zip along

Want a bird’s eye view of the forest? Then ziplining (also known as a canopy tour) is just for you. The basics of ziplining entails wearing a harness and jumping off a platform to another platform both built around a tree. It’s an incredible way to see the forest from right up high.

As zipline tours vary in length and style, depending on location, it’s best to check with the service provider about any restrictions and precautions to take before you go ahead and book.
